WHAT’S IN THAT BOX? • Despite the soft ground conditions and snow on the Malvern hills above the Three Counties Showground on the Thursday before the show, the weather turned out dry and unseasonably warm over 21-22 February.

NEW YEAR SALE
RED MASSEY FOCUS • For the third and final look at Julie Browning and Peter Smith’s Massey Ferguson collection, we concentrate on some of the red tractors they own, but not before focusing on an unusual grey Ferguson tractor of theirs, plus the very rare Massey Ferguson 150 gas.
RARE SPECIES • Gerald Sandrieser and Johannes Hafermann look at the complicated Eicher takeover by Massey Ferguson, who owned the company for a short time, and the badge engineered air-cooled Massey Fergusons from this time that are rare today.
KEEPING THEM ORIGINAL • Ben Phillips left off last time with the crank and piston assemblies installed in the engine block, which had returned from Bromsgrove Engine Services. It was now time to get the underneath closed up in the form of fitting the sump.
FITTING A SURE SEAL TO A TE-20 REAR AXLE • We welcome back Richard Lofting who this month gets on with replacing a rear oil seal, not a nice job but, as they say, needs must.

SALES CORNER • In this issue we look in detail at the Mourne Collection when the 2678-lot sale was brought over to H. J. Pugh at Ledbury, Herefordshire and sold over 27-28 February. We look over the 77 lots that made up the Ferguson-Massey Ferguson selection in the sale. Prices were very good in most cases, with a number of massive records created along the way.
