This WEEK • Nigella Lawson joins The Great British Bake Off (Tue, C4) this week, filling the huge hole that Dame Prue Leith has left. Nigella, along with Paul Hollywood, is our cover star and I’m sure the TV cook will make a welcome addition to the show. We have Paul’s Hollywood Handshake, so perhaps there’s a Nigella Nod around the corner?! The other big show back for an amazing 24th season is Strictly Come Dancing (Sat, BBC1). We chat to the new presenters – Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe – on page 8, while turn to page 11 to discover the stars taking part. Nigella Lawson and Paul Hollywood on the return of The Great British Bake Off • When Nigella Lawson was invited to succeed Dame Mary Berry and Dame Prue Leith as a judge on The Great British Bake Off alongside stalwart Paul Hollywood, she was both thrilled and daunted. 'I was delighted, but I worried that I didn't deserve the honour because I was following two eminent ladies,' shares the chatty cook and food writer, as TV Times joins her and Paul on a scorching July day in a London studio to discuss the 17th season of the beloved competition. 'It's been an incredible experience, though!' 'Nigella's brilliant,' beams king of bread Paul, who has been casting his expert eye over creations since 2010. 'She has fitted in beautifully.' As the 10-part run, hosted again by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, begins, 12 new bakers (see our guide, right) try to impress Nigella and Paul in Cake Week. Over the coming episodes, new themes include Audience Choice Week, in which viewers have suggested the challenges, and Free-From Children's Party Week. Strictly Come Dancing • There are cha-cha-changes afoot as Strictly Come Dancing twirls back on to BBC1 for its 24th series. Following the departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman – who had been on hosting duties since 2004 and 2010 respectively – in the 2025 Christmas special, the latest run of the sequinned spectacular will be helmed by The Voice UK presenter Emma Willis, comedian Josh Widdicombe and professional dancer Johannes Radebe. The trio make their debut in this week's sparkling launch show, in which they will oversee the action as this year's class of 15 celebrities (see our guide on page 11) are paired with their pro partners.
